Thus Davidprevailedoverthe Philistinewith a slingand a stone,and he struckthe Philistineand killedhim; but therewas noswordin David'shand.
He founda freshjawboneof a donkey,so he reachedout and tookit and killeda thousandmenwith it.
Afterhim cameShamgarthe sonof Anath,who struckdownsixhundredPhilistineswith an oxgoad;and he alsosavedIsrael.
So it cameabout on the dayof battlethat neitherswordnorspearwas foundin the handsof anyof the peoplewho[were] with Sauland Jonathan,but they were foundwith Sauland his sonJonathan.
Davidgirdedhis swordoverhis armorand triedto walk,for he had not tested[them]. So Davidsaidto Saul,"I cannotgowith these,for I have not tested[them]." And Davidtookthem off.
And Davidputhis handinto his bagand tookfrom it a stoneand slung[it], and struckthe Philistineon his forehead.And the stonesankinto his forehead,so that he fellon his faceto the ground.
Then Davidranand stoodoverthe Philistineand tookhis swordand drewit out of its sheathand killedhim, and cutoffhis headwith it. When the Philistinessawthat their championwas dead,they fled.
"For he tookhis lifein his handand struckthe Philistine,and the LORDbroughtabouta greatdeliverancefor allIsrael;you saw[it] and rejoiced.Whythen will you sinagainst innocentbloodby puttingDavidto deathwithouta cause?"
Then the priestsaid,"The swordof Goliaththe Philistine,whomyou killedin the valleyof Elah,behold,it is wrappedin a clothbehindthe ephod;ifyou would takeit for yourself, take[it]. For thereis nootherexceptit here."And Davidsaid,"Thereis nonelikeit; giveit to me."
Saulsaid,"May you be blessedof the LORD,for you have hadcompassionon me.
