The kingof Israelreplied,"It is according to your word,my lord,O king;I am yours, and allthat I have."
Shimeithen saidto the king,"The wordis good.As my lordthe kinghas said,soyour servantwill do."So Shimeilivedin Jerusalemmanydays.
Your silverand your goldare mine; your most beautifulwivesand childrenare also mine.'"
Then the messengersreturnedand said,"ThussaysBen-hadad,'Surely,I sentto you saying,"You shall giveme your silverand your goldand your wivesand your children,"
And the one who[was] overthe household,and he who[was] overthe city,the elders,and the guardiansof [the children], sent[word] to Jehu,saying,"We are your servants,allthat you sayto us we will do,we will not makeanymanking;dowhatis goodin your sight."
As for those of you who may be left,I will also bringweaknessinto their heartsin the landsof their enemies.And the soundof a drivenleafwill chasethem, and even when noone is pursuingthey will fleeas thoughfrom the sword,and they will fall.
therefore you shall serveyour enemieswhomthe LORDwill sendagainst you, in hunger,in thirst,in nakedness,and in the lackof allthings;and He will putan ironyokeon your neckuntilHe has destroyedyou.
Then the menof Jabeshsaid,"Tomorrowwe will comeout to you, and you may doto us whateverseems goodto you."
