Thisis His commandment,that we believein the nameof His SonJesusChrist,and loveone another,justas He commandedus.
"A newcommandmentI giveto you, that you loveoneanother,evenas I have lovedyou, that you alsoloveone another.
Since you have in obedienceto the truthpurifiedyour soulsfor a sincerelove of the brethren,ferventlyloveone anotherfrom the heart,
"Thisis My commandment,that you loveone another,justas I have lovedyou.
Jesusansweredand saidto them, "Thisis the workof God,that you believein Him whomHe has sent."
Aboveall,keepferventin your lovefor one another,becauselovecoversa multitudeof sins.
For thisis the messagewhichyou have heardfrom the beginning,that we should loveone another;
And thiscommandmentwe havefrom Him, that the one who lovesGodshould lovehis brotheralso.
Nowas to the love of the brethren,you havenoneedfor [anyone] to writeto you, for you yourselvesare taught by Godto loveone another;
and walkin love,justas Christalsolovedyou and gaveHimselfup for us, an offeringand a sacrificeto Godas a fragrantaroma.
Thena cloudformed,overshadowingthem, and a voicecameout of the cloud,"Thisis My belovedSon,listento Him!"
"The secondis likeit, 'YOU SHALL LOVEYOUR NEIGHBORAS YOURSELF.'
They said,"Believein the LordJesus,and you will be saved,you and your household."
"Thisis eternallife,that they may knowYou, the onlytrue God,and JesusChristwhomYou have sent.
"Do not let your heartbe troubled;believein God,believealsoin Me.
Dohomageto the Son,that He not becomeangry,and you perish[in] the way,For His wrathmay soonbe kindled.How blessedare allwho takerefugein Him!
It is a trustworthystatement,deservingfullacceptance,that ChristJesuscameinto the worldto savesinners,among whomI amforemost[of all].
But as manyas receivedHim, to them He gavethe rightto becomechildrenof God,[even] to thosewho believein His name,
NowwhenHe was in Jerusalemat the Passover,duringthe feast,manybelievedin His name,observingHis signswhichHe was doing.
"He who believesin Him is not judged;he who does not believehas been judgedalready,becausehe has not believedin the nameof the only begottenSonof God.
Beloved,I am not writinga newcommandmentto you, but an oldcommandmentwhichyou have hadfrom the beginning;the oldcommandmentis the wordwhichyou have heard.
Whoeverconfessesthat Jesusis the Sonof God,Godabidesin him, and he in God.
These thingsI have writtento you who believein the nameof the Sonof God,sothat you may knowthat you haveeternallife.
