I am writingto you, fathers,becauseyou knowHim who has been from the beginning.I am writingto you, young men,becauseyou have overcomethe evil one.I have writtento you, children,becauseyou knowthe Father.
Both youngmenand virgins;Oldmenand children.
Beforethe mountainswere bornOr You gavebirthto the earthand the world,Even from everlastingto everlasting,You are God.
"Becausehe has lovedMe, therefore I will deliverhim; I will sethim [securely] on high,becausehe has knownMy name.
The gloryof youngmenis their strength,And the honorof oldmenis their grayhair.
"It will comeabout afterthisThat I will pourout My Spiriton allmankind;And your sonsand daughterswill prophesy,Your oldmenwill dreamdreams,Your youngmenwill seevisions.
For whatcomelinessand beauty[will be] theirs! Grainwill make the youngmenflourish,and newwinethe virgins.
"All thingshave been handed overto Me by My Father;and no oneknowsthe Sonexceptthe Father;nordoes anyoneknowthe Fatherexceptthe Son,and anyone to whomthe Sonwillsto reveal[Him].
"When anyonehearsthe wordof the kingdomand does not understandit, the evil[one] comesand snatches awaywhathas been sownin his heart.Thisis the one on whom seed was sownbesidethe road.
and the fieldis the world;and [as for] the goodseed,theseare the sonsof the kingdom;and the taresare the sonsof the evil[one];
"But let your statementbe, 'Yes,yes[or] 'No,no;anything beyondtheseis of evil.
"All thingshave been handed overto Me by My Father,and no oneknowswhothe Sonis exceptthe Father,and whothe Fatheris exceptthe Son,and anyone to whomthe Sonwillsto reveal[Him]."
"Ifyou had knownMe, you would have knownMy Fatheralso;from nowon you knowHim, and have seenHim."
Jesussaidto him, "Have I beenso longwith you, and [yet] you have not come to knowMe, Philip?He who has seenMe has seenthe Father;how[can] you say,'Showus the Father'?
"These thingsthey will dobecausethey have not knownthe FatherorMe.
"These thingsI have spokento you, sothat in Me you may havepeace.In the worldyou havetribulation,but take courage;I have overcomethe world."
that they may allbe one;evenas You, Father,[are] in Me and I in You, that they alsomay be in Us, sothat the worldmay believethat You sentMe.
"Thisis eternallife,that they may knowYou, the onlytrue God,and JesusChristwhomYou have sent.
Sothey were sayingto Him, "Whereis Your Father?"Jesusanswered,"You knowneitherMe norMy Father;ifyou knew Me, you would knowMy Fatheralso."
For God,who said,"Lightshall shineout of darkness,"is the One whohas shonein our heartsto give the Lightof the knowledgeof the gloryof Godin the faceof Christ.
Do not sharply rebukean older man,but [rather] appealto [him] as a father,[to] the younger menas brothers,
Likewiseurgethe young mento be sensible;
Whatwas from the beginning,whatwe have heard,whatwe have seenwith our eyes,whatwe have lookedat and touchedwith our hands,concerningthe Wordof Life--
My little children,I am writingthese thingsto you sothat you may not sin.And ifanyonesins,we havean Advocatewith the Father,JesusChristthe righteous;
I am writingto you, little children,becauseyour sinshave been forgivenyou for His name'ssake.
I have writtento you, fathers,becauseyou knowHim who has been from the beginning.I have writtento you, young men,becauseyou are strong,and the wordof Godabidesin you, and you have overcomethe evil one.
not as Cain,[who] was of the eviloneand slewhis brother.And for whatreasondid he slayhim? Becausehis deedswere evil,and his brother'swere righteous.
You are from God,little children,and have overcomethem; becausegreateris He who is in you thanhe who is in the world.
We knowthat noonewho is bornof Godsins;but He who was bornof Godkeepshim, and the evil onedoes not touchhim.
And we knowthat the Sonof Godhas come,and has givenus understandingsothat we may knowHim whois true;and we are in Him who is true,in His SonJesusChrist.Thisis the true Godand eternallife.
"And they overcamehim becauseof the bloodof the Lamband becauseof the wordof their testimony,and they did not lovetheir lifeeven whenfaced with death.
He who hasan ear,let him hearwhatthe Spiritsaysto the churches.To him who overcomes,I will grantto eatof the treeof lifewhichis in the Paradiseof God.'
