Ifwe saythat we havefellowshipwith Him and [yet] walkin the darkness,we lieand do not practicethe truth;
They do not knownordo they understand;They walkabout in darkness;Allthe foundationsof the earthare shaken.
Can a throneof destructionbe alliedwith You, One which devisesmischiefby decree?
From those who leavethe pathsof uprightnessTo walkin the waysof darkness;
"Manywill sayto Me on that day,'Lord,Lord,did we not prophesyin Your name,and in Your namecastout demons,and in Your nameperformmanymiracles?'
"But ifanyonewalksin the night,he stumbles,becausethe lightis not in him."
SoJesussaidto them, "For a littlewhilelongerthe Lightis amongyou. Walkwhileyou havethe Light,sothat darknesswill not overtakeyou; he who walksin the darknessdoes not knowwherehe goes.
"I have come[as] Lightinto the world,sothat everyonewho believesin Me will not remainin darkness.
ThenJesusagainspoketo them, saying,"I amthe Lightof the world;he who followsMe will not walkin the darkness,but will havethe Lightof life."
and you have not come to knowHim, but I knowHim; and ifI saythat I do not knowHim, I will be a liarlikeyou, but I do knowHim and keepHis word.
by meansof the hypocrisyof liarssearedin their ownconscienceas with a branding iron,
Whatuseis it, my brethren,ifsomeonesayshe hasfaithbut he hasnoworks?Canthat faithsavehim?
and oneof you saysto them, "Goin peace,be warmedand be filled,"and yetyou do not givethem what is necessaryfor [their] body,whatuseis that?
But someonemay [well] say,"You havefaithand I haveworks;showme your faithwithoutthe works,and I will showyou my faithby my works."
Ifwe saythat we have not sinned,we makeHim a liarand His wordis not in us.
whatwe have seenand heardwe proclaimto you also,sothat you toomay havefellowshipwith us; and indeedour fellowshipis with the Father,and with His SonJesusChrist.
Ifwe saythat we havenosin,we are deceivingourselvesand the truthis not in us.
The one who says,"I have come to knowHim," and does not keepHis commandments,is a liar,and the truthis not in him;
Ifsomeonesays,"I loveGod,"and hateshis brother,he is a liar;for the one who does not lovehis brotherwhomhe has seen,cannotloveGodwhomhe has not seen.
