Ifanyonespeaksin a tongue,[it should be] by twoorat the mostthree,and [each] in turn,and onemust interpret;
and to anotherthe effectingof miracles,and to anotherprophecy,and to anotherthe distinguishingof spirits,to another[various] kindsof tongues,and to anotherthe interpretationof tongues.
Thereforelet one who speaksin a tonguepraythat he may interpret.
For one who speaksin a tonguedoes not speakto menbut to God;for no oneunderstands,but in [his] spirithe speaksmysteries.
Whatis [the outcome] then,brethren?Whenyou assemble,each onehasa psalm,hasa teaching,hasa revelation,hasa tongue,hasan interpretation.Let all thingsbe donefor edification.
but ifthere is nointerpreter,he must keep silentin the church;and let him speakto himselfand to God.
NowI wishthat you allspokein tongues,but [even] morethat you would prophesy;and greateris one who prophesiesthanone who speaksin tongues,unlesshe interprets,sothat the churchmay receiveedifying.
