Thereforewhenthe Lordknewthat the Phariseeshad heardthat Jesuswas makingand baptizingmoredisciplesthanJohn
(althoughJesusHimselfwas not baptizing,but His discipleswere),
And he orderedthem to be baptizedin the nameof JesusChrist.Thenthey askedhim to stayon for a fewdays.
And when I cameto you, brethren,I did not comewith superiorityof speechorof wisdom, proclaimingto you the testimonyof God.
whichthings we alsospeak, not in wordstaughtby humanwisdom, but in those taughtby the Spirit, combiningspiritual[thoughts] with spiritual[words].
For our proud confidenceis this:the testimonyof our conscience, that in holinessand godlysincerity, not in fleshlywisdombut in the graceof God,we have conductedourselves in the world, and especiallytowardyou.
For they say,"His lettersare weightyand strong, but his personalpresenceis unimpressiveand his speechcontemptible."
But evenifI am unskilledin speech, yetI am not [so] in knowledge;in fact,in everywaywe have made [this] evidentto you in all things.
but we have renouncedthe things hiddenbecause of shame, not walkingin craftinessoradulteratingthe wordof God,but by the manifestationof truthcommendingourselvesto everyman'sconsciencein the sightof God.
For we did not followcleverly devisedtaleswhen we made knownto you the powerand comingof our LordJesusChrist, but we were eyewitnessesof His majesty.
