But Daviddid not countthose twentyyearsof ageand under,becausethe LORDhad saidHe would multiplyIsraelas the starsof heaven.
And He tookhim outsideand said,"Nowlooktoward the heavens,and countthe stars,ifyou are ableto countthem." And He saidto him, "Soshall your descendantsbe."
indeedI will greatlyblessyou, and I will greatlymultiplyyour seedas the starsof the heavensand as the sandwhichis on the seashore;and your seedshall possessthe gateof their enemies.
"I will multiplyyour descendantsas the starsof heaven,and will giveyour descendantsalltheselands;and by your descendantsallthe nationsof the earthshall be blessed;
Now againthe angerof the LORDburnedagainst Israel,and it incitedDavidagainst them to say,"Go,numberIsraeland Judah."
and they assembledallthe congregationtogether on the firstof the secondmonth.Then they registeredby ancestryin their families,by their fathers'households,according to the numberof names,from twentyyearsoldand upward,headby head,
Thereforethere was bornevenof one man,and him as good as deadat that, [as many descendants] AS THE STARSOF HEAVENIN NUMBER,AND INNUMERABLEAS THE SANDWHICH IS BY THE SEASHORE.
