So when the servantsof Hadadezersawthat they were defeatedby Israel,they madepeacewith Davidand servedhim. Thus the Arameanswere not willingto helpthe sonsof Ammonanymore.
Now it happenedafterwardsthat the kingof the Ammonitesdied,and Hanunhis sonbecamekingin his place.
When allthe kings,servantsof Hadadezer,sawthat they were defeatedby Israel,they madepeacewith Israeland servedthem. So the Arameansfearedto helpthe sonsof Ammonanymore.
Now Ben-hadadkingof Aramgatheredallhis army,and there [were] thirty-twokingswith him, and horsesand chariots.And he wentup and besiegedSamariaand foughtagainst it.
When [Ben-hadad] heardthismessage,as he was drinkingwith the kingsin the temporaryshelters,he saidto his servants,"Station[yourselves]." So they stationed[themselves] againstthe city.
Then the fameof Davidwentout into allthe lands;and the LORDbroughtthe fearof him on allthe nations.
The ArameansfledbeforeIsrael,and Davidkilledof the Arameans7000charioteersand 40,000footsoldiers,and putto deathShophachthe commanderof the army.
Then it happenedin the spring,at the timewhen kingsgoout [to battle], that Joabledout the armyand ravagedthe landof the sonsof Ammon,and cameand besiegedRabbah.But Davidstayedat Jerusalem.And JoabstruckRabbahand overthrewit.
For You have girdedme with strengthfor battle;You have subduedunderme those who roseup against me.
As soon as they hear,they obeyme; Foreignerssubmitto me.
For it says,"Are not my princesallkings?
