Then the Pharisees went out and held council against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.

And as they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and declared all the things that were done to the chief priests.

saying, Say that His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we slept.

Then the chief priests and Pharisees gathered a sanhedrin, and said, What can we do? For this man does many miracles.

And they obeyed him. And calling the apostles, beating them, they commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
