and has not ill-treated any man, but has given the debtor's pledge back to him, has robbed none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry and has covered the naked with a garment;

And also I, my brothers and my servants, might take from them silver and grain. Please let us leave this lending at interest.

For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

They drive away the ass of the fatherless; they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge from the poor.

To the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of pity and righteousness.

He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who acts wisely toward the poor; Jehovah will deliver him in time of trouble.

If you lend money to one of My people who is poor beside you, you shall not be to him as a money-lender, neither shall you lay upon him interest.

If you at all take your neighbor's clothing as a pledge, you shall deliver it to him by the time the sun goes down.

Also you shall not oppress a stranger. For you know the heart of a stranger, since you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

He who presses the poor curses his Maker, but he who honors Him has mercy upon the poor.

He who gives to the poor shall not lack, but he who hides his eyes shall have many a curse.

He who increases his wealth by interest and unjust gain, he shall gather it for him who will pity the poor.

Do not envy the cruel man, and choose none of his ways.

learn to do good; seek judgment, reprove the oppressor. Judge the orphan, plead for the widow.

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands free from holding bribes, who stops his ear from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

For the vineyard of Jehovah of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah His pleasant plant; and He looked for justice, but behold bloody iniquity; for righteousness, but behold a cry!

So says Jehovah, Do judgment and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the oppressors's hand. And do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom; pride. Fullness of bread and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters. Nor did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

has ill-treated the poor and needy; thieving, he stole; has not given back the pledge; and has lifted up his eyes to the idols; has committed abomination;

nor has ill-treated any man; has not withheld the pledge; nor has robbed by violence; but has given his bread to the hungry; and has covered the naked with clothes;

His father, because he extorted, robbed his brother by robbery, and did what is not good among his people; lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

if the wicked gives back the pledge, gives again what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, then he shall surely live; he shall not die.

Make a chain; for the land is full of bloody judgments, and the city is full of violence.

Therefore, O king, let my advice be pleasing to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, whether there will be duration to your prosperity.

You shall not defraud your neighbor nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not stay with you until the morning.

You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment. You shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.

And if you sell anything to your neighbor, or buy from your neighbor's hand, you shall not oppress one another.

So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea for four, I will not turn away from it; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals;

And they will stretch beside every altar on garments taken in pledge, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

For they do not know to do right, says Jehovah, those who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

You who put the evil day far away, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

Woe to those who plot wickedness and prepare evil on their beds! When the morning is light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.

You who hate the good and love the evil; who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones;

And I will punish all those who leap on the threshold in that day, who fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

And I will come near you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who extort from the hired laborer's wages, and turning away the widow, and the orphan, the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of Hosts.

He answered and said to them, He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. And he who has food, let him do likewise.

You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge.
