Leviticus 25:25

Modern English Version

If your brother becomes poor and has sold some of his possession, then his nearest redeemer will come to redeem it, and buy back that which his brother sold.

In all the land of your possession you shall grant a redemption for the land.

If the man has none to redeem it, but he himself is able to redeem it,

If a sojourner or foreigner becomes rich by you, and your brother who dwells beside him becomes poor and sells himself to the foreigner or sojourner with you, or to a member of the stranger’s family,

If a man consecrates to the Lord a field that he purchased, which is not part of his land property,

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

Now it is true that I am a redeeming kinsman. Yet there is another redeemer closer than I am.

Now is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you have been working? Tonight he winnows barley on the threshing floor.

He said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth, your maidservant. Spread your cloak over me, for you are a redeeming kinsman.”

He said to the redeemer, “Naomi, who has come back from the land of Moab, must sell the plot of land belonging to our brother Elimelek.
