If I wash myself with snow water and cleanse my hands with soap,
If my step has turned out of the path, and my heart has gone after my eyes, and if any spot has clung to my hands,
For you said, ‘What advantage will it be to me? What profit will I have if I am cleansed from my sin?’
yet You will plunge me into the pit, and my own clothes will abhor me.
I will wash my hands in innocence; thus will I go around Your altar, O Lord,
Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find mercy.
For though you wash yourself with lye, and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before Me, says the Lord God.
O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?
For, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to the righteousness of God.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
