“Why is light given to the miserable, and life unto the bitter in soul,
When she came to the man of God at the mountain, she grabbed his feet. Gehazi approached to push her away. But the man of God said, “Let her alone, for she is in bitter distress, and the Lord has hidden it from me and has not told me.”
Or why was I not hidden like a stillborn child, like infants who never saw light?
The small and great, they are there, and the servant is free from his master.
He will deliver his soul from going down to the pit, and his life will see the light.
to bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
That it would please God to crush me, that He would let loose His hand and cut me off!
Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those who are bitter in soul;
Why did I come forth from the womb to see trouble and sorrow, so that my days are spent in shame?
And she was bitter, and prayed to the Lord, and wept severely.
