Both the gray-haired and very aged are among us — much older than your father.

“I will tell you; hear me, and what I have seen I will declare,

to whom alone the land was given, and no foreigner passed among them:

“Do you not know this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

“Please, ask the former generation, and prepare yourself for what their fathers searched out;

Now also when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your might to this generation, and Your power to everyone who is to come.

It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do this day; a father explains to his sons about Your faithfulness.
