Because your rage against Me and your tumult have come up into My ears, therefore I will put My hook in your nose, and My bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.

Can you put a cord into his nose, or pierce his jaw with a hook?

Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be restrained with bit and bridle, or they will not come near you.

The nations raged; the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice; the earth melted.

Do not forget the voice of Your enemies, the tumult of those who rise up against You, which increases continually.

Your enemies have roared in the midst of Your meeting place; they set up their ensigns as signs.

The Rabshakeh said to them: “Say now to Hezekiah: Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this that you have?

“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, ‘Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the Lord.

Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he shall hear a rumor, and return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.’ ”

But I will put hooks in your jaws, and will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish of your rivers shall stick to your scales.

Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me and have multiplied your words against Me. I have heard them.

And I will turn you back and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses, and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armor, even a great company with small and large shields, all of them handling swords.

The Lord God has sworn by His holiness: Behold, the days are coming upon you when they will take you away with hooks, the last one of you with fishhooks.

When Pilate saw that he could not prevail, but rather that unrest was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous Man. See to it yourselves.”

They listened to him up to this word, and then they lifted up their voices and said, “Away with such a man from the earth, for he is not fit to live!”

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?”
