If a man strikes the eye of his male or female servant, and injures it, then he must let him go free on account of his eye.

Now our flesh is the same as the flesh of our countrymen. Our children are like their children, but we are subjugating our sons and our daughters as servants. Behold, some of our daughters are in bondage already, and we are powerless to do anything because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”

You have seen it, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it with Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the orphan.

to judge the orphan and the oppressed; man on earth no longer trembles.

He who avenges deaths remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.

If a man strikes his male or female servant with a rod and the servant dies at his hand, then he shall surely be punished.

eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

If he knocks out the tooth of his male or female servant, then he shall let him go free on account of the tooth.

And masters, do the same things for them, no longer threatening, knowing that your Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

You must not pervert judgment nor show partiality. You must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

Masters, give to your servants that which is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
