They replied to the king, “As for the man who annihilated us and plotted to destroy us so we would not exist within the whole territory of Israel,

He loved cursing — let it fall on him; he took no delight in blessing — let it be far from him.

eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

Woe, you destroyer never destroyed, you traitor never betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished betraying, they will betray you.

“Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed Me by proclaiming freedom, each man for his brother and for his neighbor. I hereby proclaim freedom for you” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “to the sword, to plague, and to famine! I will make you a horror to all the earth’s kingdoms.

“I will repay Babylon and all the residents of Chaldea for all their evil they have done in Zion before your very eyes.” This is the Lord’s declaration.

For the Day of the Lord is near, against all the nations. As you have done, so it will be done to you; what you deserve will return on your own head.

“For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well.

Then He said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. By the measure you use, it will be measured and added to you.

Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure — pressed down, shaken together, and running over — will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.

For judgment is without mercy to the one who hasn’t shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Pay her back the way she also paid, and double it according to her works. In the cup in which she mixed, mix a double portion for her.
