Then he said, “Come with me and see my zeal for the Lord! ” So he let him ride with him in his chariot.

Yet Jehu was not careful to follow the instruction of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart. He did not turn from the sins that Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit.

He distributes freely to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted in honor.

So My people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest profit.

Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right, and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”

On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive.

“Ask all the people of the land and the priests: When you fasted and lamented in the fifth and in the seventh months for these 70 years, did you really fast for Me?

For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will reward each according to what he has done.

Then Jesus told them, “Watch out and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You lock up the kingdom of heaven from people. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.

They do everything to be observed by others: They enlarge their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.

“And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

“Whenever you fast, don’t be sad-faced like the hypocrites. For they make their faces unattractive so their fasting is obvious to people. I assure you: They’ve got their reward!

“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.

Then He commanded them: “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

Take care then, that the light in you is not darkness.

In these circumstances, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to His disciples first: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

He then told them, “Watch out and be on guard against all greed because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

And He told them: “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.

For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

How can you believe? While accepting glory from one another, you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God.

When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this? Or why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness?

Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised — but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.

Be sure to return it to him at sunset. Then he will sleep in it and bless you, and this will be counted as righteousness to you before the Lord your God.

For he considered the reproach because of the Messiah to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward.

We must, therefore, pay even more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints — and you continue to serve them.

Watch yourselves so you don’t lose what we have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.
