As these men went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?

Turbulent as water, you will no longer excel, because you got into your father’s bed and you defiled it — he got into my bed.

When Jesus turned and noticed them following Him, He asked them, “What are you looking for? ” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are You staying? ”

John was a burning and shining lamp, and for a time you were willing to enjoy his light.

Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.

But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
