I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

These are the records of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation at the time that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

And all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring because you have obeyed My command.”

These are the family records of the descendants of Adam. On the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God;

The Lord swore an oath to David, a promise He will not abandon: “I will set one of your descendants on your throne.

The Lord said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one; I have sworn an oath to David My servant:

His offspring will continue forever, his throne like the sun before Me,

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

He was taken away because of oppression and judgment; and who considered His fate? For He was cut off from the land of the living; He was struck because of my people’s rebellion.

“The days are coming” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “when I will raise up a Righteous Branch of David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.

then I might also reject the seed of Jacob and of My servant David — not taking from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Instead, I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.”

In that day I will restore the fallen booth of David: I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,

On that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that on that day the one who is weakest among them will be like David on that day, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the Lord, before them.

The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

Abraham fathered Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers,

Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is cruelly tormented by a demon.”

After Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him.

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting, “Have mercy on us, Son of David! ”

He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.

Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David once lived? ”

Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath to him to seat one of his descendants on his throne.

concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

The ancestors are theirs, and from them, by physical descent, came the Messiah, who is God over all, praised forever. Amen.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say “and to seeds,” as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human,

Keep your attention on Jesus Christ as risen from the dead and descended from David. This is according to my gospel.

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.”
