When shadows began to fall on the gates of Jerusalem just before the Sabbath, I gave orders that the gates be closed and not opened until after the Sabbath. I posted some of my men at the gates, so that no goods could enter during the Sabbath day.

Your gates will always be open; they will never be shut day or night so that the wealth of the nations may be brought into you, with their kings being led in procession.

In those days and at that time — this is the Lord’s declaration — one will search for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for Judah’s sins, but they will not be found, for I will forgive those I leave as a remnant.

But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, “Yes, the men did come to me, but I didn’t know where they were from.

But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them among the stalks of flax that she had arranged on the roof.

The men pursued them along the road to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as they left to pursue them, the gate was shut.

Each day its gates will never close because it will never be night there.
