Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

These are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the word we hear of Him! Who can understand His mighty thunder?

He stretches the northern skies over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.

I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty. I looked to the heavens, and their light was gone.

Desolation, decimation, devastation! Hearts melt, knees tremble, loins shake, every face grows pale!

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

He watches over His nest like an eagle and hovers over His young; He spreads His wings, catches him, and lifts him up on His pinions.
