For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues.

For an overseer, as God’s administrator, must be blameless, not arrogant, not hot-tempered, not addicted to wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,

In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to much wine. They are to teach what is good,

Praising and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers, these things should not be this way.

Shepherd God’s flock among you, not overseeing out of compulsion but freely, according to God’s will; not for the money but eagerly;
