Jeremiah told Seraiah, “When you arrive in Babylon, make sure you read out loud everything written here,

I'm warning you, people of Jerusalem, I'm going to give up on you in disgust. I will destroy you and leave your country uninhabited.

“Son of man,” he said to me, “can you see what they are doing? Look at the disgusting sins the people of Israel are committing that are driving me far away from my sanctuary? But you're going to see even more disgusting sins than these!”

Even if they bring up children, I will make sure they do not survive. What a disaster for you when I turn away from you!

Jesus went into the Temple. The chief priests and the ruling elders of the people came to him while he was teaching and asked, “By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority?”

I tell you this: you won't see me from now on until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

“It took forty-six years to build this Temple, and you're going to raise it up in three days?” the Jewish leaders replied.
