I shook out the folds of my robe and said, “This is how my God will shake you out of your homes and out of your possessions if you don't keep your promise! If you don't, you'll be shaken out and end up with nothing!” Everyone there said, “Amen,” and praised the Lord. The people did what they'd promised.

You will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, to witness to them and to the foreigners.

“If you're not welcomed and not listened to, then shake the dust from your feet as you leave as a sign you have given up on them.”

When they opposed him and cursed him, he shook out his clothes and told them, “Your blood is on your own heads! I am innocent of any guilt, and from now on I will go to the foreigners.”
