All of us have wandered off, just like sheep. Each of us has gone our own way, and the Lord allowed all our guilt to fall on him.

I will be so happy over Jerusalem; I will celebrate among my people. The sound of weeping and cries for help won't ever be heard there again.

You are to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

He explained many things to them, using stories as illustrations. “The sower went out to sow,” he began.

Go and discover what this means: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I didn't come to call those who do what's right—I came to call sinners.”

As a result the Pharisees and the religious teachers complained, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”

“Imagine a man who had a hundred sheep lost one of them. Wouldn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture, and search for the one that's lost until he finds it?

“Simon, son of John, do you love me?” he asked for the second time. “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “you know I love you.” “Look after my sheep,” Jesus said to him.

When they heard what had happened they praised God and told Paul, “Brother, you can see how many thousands of Jews have come to trust in the Lord, and they all keep the Law very carefully.
