The LORD knew that Jacob loved Rachel more than he did Leah, and so he gave children to Leah, but not to Rachel.

She had a second son and named him Simeon, because she said, “The LORD has heard that my husband doesn't love me.”

If you love your children, you will correct them; if you don't love them, you won't correct them.

If you love your father or mother or even your sons and daughters more than me, you are not fit to be my disciples.

Surely you know that the Scriptures say, ‘The stone that the builders tossed aside is now the most important stone of all.

Later, when the man is near death and is dividing up his property, he must give a double share to his firstborn son, simply because he was the first to be born.
