that creation would be set free from decay and would share in the glorious freedom of his children.
But Jesus must stay in heaven until God makes all things new, just as his holy prophets promised long ago.
In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are.
God then accepted the people he had already decided to choose, and he has shared his glory with them.
That's how it will be when our bodies are raised to life. These bodies will die, but the bodies that are raised will live for ever.
The words “once again” mean that these created things will some day be shaken and removed. Then what cannot be shaken will last.
But God has promised us a new heaven and a new earth, where justice will rule. We are really looking forward to that!
I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.
