The LORD God then asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The snake tricked me,” she answered. “And I ate some of that fruit.”

How can anyone be stupid enough to trust something that can be burnt to ashes? No one can save themselves like that. Don't they realize that the idols they hold in their hands are not really gods?

You people of Judah are so deceitful that you even fool yourselves, and you can't change.

Pride tricks you into thinking that other nations look at you with fear. You live along the cliffs and high in the mountains like the eagles, but I am the LORD, and I will bring you down.

You live in a mountain fortress, because your pride makes you feel safe from attack, but you are mistaken.

God doesn't accept people simply because they obey the Law. No, indeed! All the Law does is to point out our sin.

Am I saying that something good caused my death? Certainly not! It was sin that killed me by using something good. Now we can see how terrible and evil sin really is.

It was sin that used this command as a way of making me have all kinds of desires. But without the Law, sin is dead.

You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits.

You must encourage one another each day. And you must keep on while there is still a time that can be called “today”. If you don't, then sin may fool some of you and make you stubborn.

Obey God's message! Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it.

If you think you are being religious, but can't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and everything you do is useless.
