You Gentiles are like branches of a wild olive tree that were made to be part of a cultivated olive tree. You have taken the place of some branches that were cut away from it. And because of this, you enjoy the blessings that come from being part of that cultivated tree.

But I am like an olive tree growing in God's house, and I can count on his love for ever and ever.

When broken branches fall to the ground, women pick them up to feed the fire. But these people are so stupid that the God who created them will show them no mercy.

If only a tenth of the people are left, even they will be destroyed. But just as stumps remain after trees have been cut down, some of my chosen ones will be left.

Once you were like an olive tree covered with fruit. But soon I will send a noisy mob to break off your branches and set you on fire.

After all, it wasn't natural for branches to be cut from a wild olive tree and to be made part of a cultivated olive tree. So it is much more likely that God will join the natural branches back to the cultivated olive tree.

We are Jews by birth and are not sinners like Gentiles.

And the mystery is this: Because of Christ Jesus, the good news has given the Gentiles a share in the promises that God gave to the Jews. God has also let the Gentiles be part of the same body.

You can dig for copper in those hills, and the stones are made of iron ore. And you won't go hungry. Wheat and barley fields are everywhere, and so are vineyards and orchards full of fig, pomegranate, and olive trees, and there is plenty of honey.

You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you alive, when he forgave all our sins.

These two witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand in the presence of the Lord who rules the earth.
