A powerful angel then picked up a huge stone and threw it into the sea. The angel said, “This is how the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to rise again.

You divided the deep sea, and your people walked through on dry land. But you tossed their enemies in, and they sank down like a heavy stone.

They will be forgotten like a dream

Suddenly they disappeared! I looked, but they were gone and no longer there.

They sank to the bottom just like stones.

You will die a horrible death! People will come looking for your city, but it will never be found. I, the LORD, have spoken.

He will retreat to his fortresses in his own country, but on the way he will be defeated and never again be seen.

I saw another powerful angel come down from heaven. This one was covered with a cloud, and a rainbow was over his head. His face was like the sun, his legs were like columns of fire,

But the dragon lost the battle. It and its angels were forced out of their places in heaven

Every island ran away, and the mountains disappeared.

Her sufferings will frighten them, and they will stand at a distance and say, “Pity that great and powerful city! Pity Babylon! In a single hour her judgment has come.”

The music of harps and singers and of flutes and trumpets will no longer be heard. No workers will ever set up shop in that city, and the sound of grinding grain will be silenced for ever.

I saw a great white throne with someone sitting on it. Earth and heaven tried to run away, but there was nowhere for them to go.

I saw a mighty angel ask with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?”
