Disappoint and confuse all who are glad to see me in trouble, but disgrace and embarrass my proud enemies who say to me, “You are nothing!”

You boast of your goodness, claiming I am suffering because I am guilty.

But your evil enemies will be put to shame and disappear for ever.

Let his curses surround him, just like the clothes he wears each day.”

I pray that all who hate the city of Zion will be made ashamed and forced to turn and run.

Let all who want to kill me be disappointed and disgraced. Chase away and confuse all who plan to harm me.

People of Moab, you claim to be stronger than I am. Now I will tell other nations to make you drunk and to laugh while you collapse in your own vomit.

This king will do as he pleases. He will proudly claim to be greater than any god and will insult the only true God. Indeed, he will be successful until God is no longer angry with his people.

You, my enemies, said, “The LORD God is helpless.” Now each of you will be disgraced and put to shame. I will see you trampled like mud in the street.

All you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble towards everyone else. The Scriptures say, “God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble.”
