You might turn out like them and get caught in a trap.

Our LORD, you have deserted your people, Israel, because they follow customs of nations from the east. They worship Philistine gods and are close friends of foreigners.

The people of Israel have mixed with foreigners; they are a thin piece of bread scorched on one side.

Don't fool yourselves. Bad friends will destroy you.

The Midianites had been defeated so badly that they were no longer strong enough to attack Israel. And so Israel was at peace for the remaining forty years of Gideon's life.
