Manasseh was guilty of causing the people of Judah to sin and disobey the LORD. He also refused to protect innocent people—he even let so many of them be killed that their blood filled the streets of Jerusalem.

and caused many innocent people to die. The LORD would not forgive this.

The wicked are too proud to turn to you or even think about you.

Anyone who spreads gossip will be silenced, and no one who is conceited will be my friend.

The LORD hates every liar, but he is the friend of all who can be trusted.

An honest witness tells the truth; a dishonest witness tells nothing but lies.

The LORD doesn't like anyone who is conceited— you can be sure they will be punished.

It sounds strange for a fool to talk sensibly, but it's even worse for a ruler to tell lies.

Evil people are proud and arrogant, but sin is the only crop they produce.

Watch out for anyone who tells lies and flatters— they are out to get you.

Don't give help to murderers! Make them stay on the run for as long as they live.

Some people are stuck-up and act like snobs;

There are six or seven kinds of people the LORD doesn't like:

“No matter how much you pray, I won't listen. You are too violent.

When the LORD comes, everyone who is proud will be made humble, and the LORD alone will be honoured.

The LORD says: The women of Jerusalem are proud and strut around, winking shamelessly. They wear anklets that jingle and call attention to the way they walk.

The look on your faces shows that you are sinful as Sodom, and you don't try to hide it. You are in for trouble, and you have brought it all on yourselves.

But if you put me to death, you and everyone else in Jerusalem will be guilty of murdering an innocent man, because everything I preached came from the LORD.

Your father is the devil, and you do exactly what he wants. He has always been a murderer and a liar. There is nothing truthful about him. He speaks on his own, and everything he says is a lie. Not only is he a liar himself, but he is also the father of all lies.

You will need them, so innocent people won't be killed on your land while they are trying to reach a Safe Town that is too far away. You will be guilty of murder, if innocent people lose their lives because you didn't name enough Safe Towns in the land the LORD your God will give you.

All you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble towards everyone else. The Scriptures say, “God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble.”

But outside the city will be dogs, witches, immoral people, murderers, idol worshippers, and everyone who loves to tell lies and do wrong.
