But the people only laughed and insulted these prophets. They ignored what the LORD God was trying to tell them, until he finally became so angry that nothing could stop him from punishing Judah and Jerusalem.

You have ignored me! So pay close attention or I will tear you apart, and no one can help you.

All who hate me are controlled by the power of evil. Sentence them to death and send them down alive to the world of the dead.

“So when you are struck by some terrible disaster,

Before I finished speaking, Pelatiah dropped dead. I bowed down and cried out, “Please, LORD God, don't kill everyone left in Israel.”

People will think they are safe and secure. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape.
