Papyrus reeds grow healthy only in a swamp,

Such is the hopeless future of all who turn from God

Its streams will stink, Egypt will have no water, and the reeds and tall grass will dry up.

They will dry up like a bush in salty desert soil, where nothing can grow.

The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it straight away.

The Scriptures say, “Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground.
