The widow answered, “In the name of the living LORD your God, I swear that I don't have any bread. All I have is a handful of flour and a little olive oil. I'm on my way home now with these few sticks to cook what I have for my son and me. After that, we will starve to death.”

Tell them to put him in prison and to give him nothing but bread and water until I come back safely.”

Moaning and groaning are my food and drink,

Merely the thought of our favourite food makes our stomachs sick,

What is food without salt? What is more tasteless than the white of an egg?

How I wish that God would answer my prayer and do away with me.

Ezekiel, the people of Jerusalem will starve. They will have so little food and water that they will be afraid and hopeless.

I ate no fine food or meat, I drank no wine, and I put no olive oil on my face or hair.
