Then the Levites Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said: “Stand and shout praises to your LORD, the eternal God! Praise his wonderful name, though he is greater than words can express.”

Try taking away everything he owns, and he will curse you to your face.”

Job replied, “Don't talk like a fool! If we accept blessings from God, we must accept trouble as well.” In all that happened, Job never once said anything against God.

And if he grabs something, who can stop him or raise a question?

I will always praise the LORD.

With all my heart, I will praise the LORD. Let all who are helpless, listen and be glad.

You treated me like this, and I kept silent, not saying a word.

And so, everyone in the east and those on the islands should praise the LORD, the God of Israel.

Israel sinned and refused to obey the LORD or follow his instructions. So the LORD let them be robbed of everything they owned.

I create light and darkness, happiness and sorrow. I, the LORD, do all of this.

Good and bad each happen at the command of God Most High.

Isn't the whole city frightened when the trumpet signals an attack? Isn't it the LORD who brings disaster on a city?

Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Why should you be jealous, if I want to be generous?”

They did what you in your power and wisdom had already decided would happen.

Always use the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to thank God the Father for everything.

Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.

We didn't bring anything into this world, and we won't take anything with us when we leave.

Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father who created all the lights in the heavens. He is always the same and never makes dark shadows by changing.

In fact, we praise the ones who endured the most. You remember how patient Job was and how the Lord finally helped him. The Lord did this because he is so merciful and kind.

I had everything when I left, but the LORD has brought me back with nothing. How can you still call me Naomi, when God has turned against me and made my life so hard?”

Our LORD, you are the one who makes us rich or poor. You put some in high positions and bring disgrace on others.

You lift the poor and homeless out of the rubbish dump and give them places of honour in royal palaces. You set the world on foundations, and they belong to you.

Samuel told Eli everything. Then Eli said, “He is the LORD, and he will do what's right.”
