Everyone, from east to west, is overwhelmed with horror.

Enemies are all around like a herd of wild bulls. Powerful bulls from Bashan are everywhere.

but the Lord laughs and knows their time is coming soon.

From my guard post, I answered, “Morning will soon be here, but night will return. If you want to know more, come back later.”

The sword of the LORD is covered with blood from lambs and goats, together with fat from kidneys of rams. This is because the LORD will slaughter many people and make a sacrifice of them in the city of Bozrah and everywhere else in Edom.

Edom's leaders are wild oxen. They are powerful bulls, but they will die with the others. Their country will be soaked with their blood, and its soil made fertile with their fat.

But you know, LORD, how faithful I've always been, even in my thoughts. So drag my enemies away and butcher them like sheep!

The LORD's people are his flock, and you leaders were the shepherds. But now it's your turn to be butchered like sheep. You'll shatter like fine pottery dropped on the floor. So roll on the ground, crying and mourning.

The foreign soldiers you hired will turn and run. But they are doomed, like well-fed calves being led to the butcher.

I want you to kill the Moabites, and if you let them escape, I will put a curse on you.”

But I am the LORD, the all-powerful King, and I promise that enemies will overpower your towns. Even your best warriors will die in the battle.

If you are terrified and run, you will fall into a pit; and if you crawl out of the pit, you'll get caught in a trap. The time has come for you to be punished.

People of Babylonia, you were glad to rob my people. You had a good time, making more noise than horses and jumping around like calves threshing grain.

Babylon, you should be named, “The Proud One”. But the time has come when I, the LORD All-Powerful, will punish you.

I will lead them away to die, like sheep, lambs, and goats being led to the butcher.

Everyone heard my groaning, but no one offered comfort. My enemies know of the trouble that you have brought on me, and it makes them glad. Hurry and punish them, as you have promised.

Her sufferings will frighten them, and they will stand at a distance and say, “Pity that great and powerful city! Pity Babylon! In a single hour her judgment has come.”

I then saw an angel standing on the sun, and he shouted to all the birds flying in the sky, “Come and join in God's great feast!
