I have sent a messenger to command the nations to prepare for war against you people of Edom.

The king's power reaches from the city of Zoan as far south as Hanes.

I will upset him with rumours about what's happening in his own country. He will go back, and there I will make him die a violent death.

Your nation will be small, yet hated by other nations.

I, the LORD, want Babylon destroyed, because its army destroyed my temple. So, you kings of Media, sharpen your arrows and pick up your shields.

Don't be afraid or lose hope, though year after year there are rumours of leaders fighting for control in the city of Babylon.

You will soon hear about wars and threats of wars, but don't be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that isn't the end.
