It's better to enjoy what we have than always to want something else, because that makes no more sense than chasing the wind.

You sacrifice oxen to me, and you commit murder; you sacrifice lambs to me and dogs to other gods; you offer grain to me and pigs' blood to idols; you burn incense to me and praise your idols. You have made your own choice to do these disgusting things that you enjoy so much.

Meanwhile, I patiently trust the LORD, even though he is no longer pleased with Israel.

The people of Israel still did not turn back to the LORD All-Powerful and worship him.

I tried punishing you, but you refused to come back to me, and like fierce lions you killed my prophets.

But all you think about is how to cheat or abuse or murder some innocent victim.

You are unfaithful children, but you belong to me. Come home! I'll take one or two of you from each town and clan and bring you to Zion.

I will tell them, “Come back, and I will cure you of your unfaithfulness.” They will answer, “We will come back, because you are the LORD our God.

Don't be controlled by your body. Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex. Don't be immoral or indecent or have evil thoughts. Don't be greedy, which is the same as worshipping idols.

People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them.

All they think about is having sex with someone else's husband or wife. There is no end to their wicked deeds. They trick people who are easily fooled, and their minds are filled with greedy thoughts. But they are headed for trouble!

They will be greedy and cheat you with smooth talk. But long ago God decided to punish them, and God doesn't sleep.
