The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at my right side, until I make your enemies into a footstool for you.”

I will bring a gift and offer a sacrifice to you, LORD. I will praise your name because you are good.

The LORD who rescued Abraham has this to say about Jacob's descendants: “They will no longer be ashamed and disgraced.

Here is my servant! I have made him strong. He is my chosen one; I am pleased with him. I have given him my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations.

But Israel, I, the LORD, will always keep you safe and free from shame.

The kings and queens of those nations where they were raised will come and bow down. They will take care of you just like a slave taking care of a child. Then you will know that I am the LORD. You won't be disappointed if you trust me.”

This is what the LORD says: I will answer your prayers because I have set a time when I will help by coming to save you. I have chosen you to take my promise of hope to other nations. You will rebuild the country from its ruins, then people will come and settle there.

The LORD God will help me and prove I am innocent. My accusers will wear out like moth-eaten clothes.

Don't be afraid or ashamed and don't be discouraged. You won't be disappointed. Forget how sinful you were when you were young; stop feeling ashamed for being left a widow.

My power will make you strong like a fortress or a column of iron or a wall of bronze. You will oppose all of Judah, including its kings and leaders, its priests and people.

Listen, all of you! Earth and everything on it, pay close attention. The LORD God accuses you from his holy temple.

Not long before it was time for Jesus to be taken up to heaven, he made up his mind to go to Jerusalem.

I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world.

I am proud of the good news! It is God's powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

That should make you feel like saying, “The Lord helps me! Why should I be afraid of what people can do to me?”

Christ suffered here on earth. Now you must be ready to suffer as he did, because suffering shows that you have stopped sinning.

Don't be ashamed to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God that you belong to him.
