I am the LORD, the Creator, the holy God of Israel. Do you dare question me about my own nation or about what I have done?

Children don't have the right to demand of their parents, “What have you done to make us what we are?”

with this message: People of Israel, I am the holy LORD God, the one who rescues you. For your own good, I teach you, and I lead you along the right path.

The LORD All-Powerful, the Holy God of Israel, rules all the earth. He is your Creator and husband, and he will rescue you.

Your people will live right and always own the land; they are the trees I planted to bring praise to me.

Our ancestors Abraham and Jacob have both rejected us. But you are still our Father; you have been our protector since ancient times.

You, LORD, are our Father. We are nothing but clay, but you are the potter who moulded us.

Someone may say to you, “Go to the fortune-tellers who make soft chirping sounds or ask the spirits of the dead. After all, a nation ought to be able to ask its own gods

I have always wanted to treat you as my children and give you the best land, the most beautiful on earth. I wanted you to call me “Father” and not turn from me.

The LORD said: Israel, I promise that some day all your tribes will again be my people, and I will be your God.

They will weep and pray as I bring them home. I will lead them to streams of water. They will walk on a level road and not stumble. I am a father to Israel, my favourite children.

Ask me, and I will tell you things that you don't know and can't find out.

I will once again answer your prayers, and I will let your nation grow until you are like a large flock of sheep.

My people Israel will know me, and they will no longer disgrace my holy name. Everyone on earth will know that I am the holy LORD God of Israel.

Then he said, “Pray that the God who rules from heaven will be merciful and explain this mystery, so that we and the others won't be put to death.”

Some day it will be impossible to count the people of Israel, because there will be as many of them as there are grains of sand along the seashore. They are now called “Not My People”, but in the future they will be called “Children of the Living God”.

At Bethel, Jacob wrestled with an angel and won; then with tears in his eyes, he asked for a blessing, and God spoke to us there.

Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.

God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That's why he sent Christ to make us what we are.

The LORD was helping the Israelites defeat the Amorites that day. So about midday, Joshua prayed to the LORD loud enough for the Israelites to hear: “Our LORD, make the sun stop in the sky over Gibeon, and the moon stand still over Aijalon Valley.” So the sun and the moon stopped and stood still until Israel defeated its enemies. This poem can be found in The Book of Jashar. The sun stood still and didn't go down for about a whole day.

The Philistine rulers threw a big party and sacrificed a lot of animals to their god Dagon. The rulers said: Samson was our enemy, but our god Dagon helped us capture him!
