We are flowers that fade and shadows that vanish.

and then they are swept away by the angry breath of God.

while its blazing breath scorches everything in sight.

I am wasting away like grass, and my appetite is gone.

We humans are like grass or wild flowers that quickly bloom.

But a scorching wind blows, and they quickly wither to be for ever forgotten.

You bring our lives to an end just like a dream. We are merely tender grass

that sprouts and grows in the morning, but dries up by evening.

The poor and the needy will be treated with fairness and with justice. His word will be law everywhere in the land, and criminals will be put to death.

Their people became weak, terribly confused. They were like wild flowers or like tender young grass growing on a flat roof or like a field of grain before it matures.

They are like flowers freshly sprung up and starting to grow. But when God blows on them, they wilt and are carried off like straw in a storm.

I am the LORD, the one who encourages you. Why are you afraid of mere humans? They dry up and die like grass.

You expected much, but received only a little. And when you brought it home, I made that little disappear. Why have I done this? It's because you hurry off to build your own houses, while my temple is still in ruins.

But any who are rich should be glad when God makes them humble. Rich people will disappear like wild flowers

scorched by the burning heat of the sun. The flowers lose their blossoms, and their beauty is destroyed. That is how the rich will disappear, as they go about their business.
