Everyone in Israel was amazed when they heard how Solomon had made his decision. They realized that God had given him wisdom to judge fairly.

and he appointed army commanders over the troops. Then he gathered the troops together in the open area in front of the city gate and said to them:

because the LORD our God fights on our side. The Assyrians must rely on human power alone. These words encouraged the army of Judah.

God is our mighty fortress, always ready to help in times of trouble.

The LORD All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

When rulers decide cases, they weigh the evidence.

You have been a place of safety for the poor and needy in times of trouble. Brutal enemies pounded us like a heavy rain or the heat of the sun at midday, but you were our shelter.

You, LORD, are above all others, and you live in the heavens. You have brought justice and fairness to Jerusalem;

after the LORD sends a fiery judgment to clean the city and its people of their violent deeds.

Then every clan in Judah will realize that I, the LORD All-Powerful, am their God, and that I am the source of their strength.

The Son was sent to speak God's message, and he has been given the full power of God's Spirit.

I cannot do anything on my own. The Father sent me, and he is the one who told me how to judge. I judge with fairness, because I obey him, and I don't just try to please myself.

Some of us can speak with wisdom, while others can speak with knowledge, but these gifts come from the same Spirit.

The LORD your God will fight beside you and help you win the battle.”

I've commanded you to be strong and brave. Don't ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the LORD your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.
