The LORD told Noah: Take your whole family with you into the boat, because you are the only one on this earth who pleases me.

just as God had told him to do. And when they were all in the boat, God closed the door.

Please hide me, God, deep in the ground— and when you are angry no more, remember to rescue me.

Please rescue me from my enemies, LORD! I come to you for safety.

Protect me as you would your very own eyes; hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Your anger lasts a little while, but your kindness lasts for a lifetime. At night we may cry, but when morning comes we will celebrate.

You are their shelter from harmful plots, and you are their protection from vicious gossip.

You are my hiding place! You protect me from trouble, and you put songs in my heart because you have saved me.

God Most High, have pity on me! Have mercy. I run to you for safety. In the shadow of your wings, I seek protection till danger dies down.

I pray to you, my protector.

Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful.

He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall.

You give them rest from their troubles, until a pit can be dug for the wicked.

The LORD is a mighty tower where his people can run for safety—

When you see trouble coming, don't be stupid and walk right into it— be clever and hide.

Soon I will stop being angry with you, and I will punish them for their crimes.

The Lord says: I am furious! And I will use the king of Assyria as a club

From a distant land the LORD is coming fierce and furious— he brings his weapons to destroy the earth.

The LORD is terribly angry with the nations; he has condemned them to be slaughtered.

I have told you what to say, and I will keep you safe in the palm of my hand. I spread out the heavens and laid foundations for the earth. Now I say, “Jerusalem, your people are mine.”

The LORD says: You are my people and nation! So pay attention to me. My teaching will cause justice to shine like a light for every nation.

When you see this happen, you will celebrate; your strength will return faster than grass can sprout. Then everyone will know that the LORD is present with his servants, but he is angry with his enemies.

I will bless my people with more food than they need, and the priests will enjoy the choice cuts of meat. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Instead, I told them, “If you listen to me and do what I tell you, I will be your God, you will be my people, and all will go well for you.”

But here is what I want you to tell the Israelites in Babylonia: It's true that I, the LORD God, have forced you out of your own country and made you live among foreign nations. But for now, I will be with you wherever you are, so that you can worship me.

This king will do as he pleases. He will proudly claim to be greater than any god and will insult the only true God. Indeed, he will be successful until God is no longer angry with his people.

If you humbly obey the LORD, then come and worship him. If you do right and are humble, perhaps you will be safe on that day when the LORD turns loose his anger.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me.

When you pray, go into a room alone and close the door. Pray to your Father in private. He knows what is done in private, and he will reward you.

These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing.
