In my experience, only those who plant seeds of evil harvest trouble,

that sprouts and grows in the morning, but dries up by evening.

Israel will be like wheat fields in Rephaim Valley picked clean of grain.

Prophets give their messages in the name of a false god, my priests don't want to serve me, and you—my own people— like it this way! But on the day of disaster, where will you turn for help?

If you scatter wind instead of wheat, you will harvest a whirlwind and have no wheat. Even if you harvest grain, enemies will steal it all.

Israel, you are a vine with dried up roots and fruitless branches. Even if you had more children and loved them dearly, I would slaughter them all.

Seeds dry up in the ground; no harvest is possible. Our barns are in bad shape, with no grain to store in them.

All your hard work will be for nothing—and there will be no harvest of grain or fruit.

But you are stubborn and refuse to turn to God. So you are making things even worse for yourselves on that day when he will show how angry he is and will judge the world with fairness.

You will plant vineyards and work hard at taking care of them, but you won't gather any grapes, much less get any wine, and the vines themselves will be eaten by worms.
