No one will live in Babylon. Even nomads won't camp nearby, and shepherds won't let their sheep rest there.

Philistines brought him silver and other gifts to keep peace. Some of the Arab people brought him seventy-seven hundred rams and the same number of goats.

Don't let children be created or joyful shouts be heard ever again in that night.

I'm not one of those women who shamelessly follow after shepherds. My darling, I love you! Where do you feed your sheep and let them rest at midday?

The LORD will sweep out the people, and the land will become a swamp for wild animals.

This is a message about a desert beside the sea: Enemies from a hostile nation attack like a whirlwind from the Southern Desert.

You have destroyed the fortress of our enemies, leaving their city in ruins. Nothing in that foreign city will ever be rebuilt.

The LORD has decided where they each should live; they will be there for ever, generation after generation.

Only jackals will live where your villages once stood. I, the LORD, have spoken.

My anger will destroy Babylon, and no one will live there. Everyone who passes by will be shocked to see what has happened.

The LORD said: I have told the enemies of Babylonia, “Attack the people of Merathaim and Pekod. Kill them all! Destroy their possessions!”

The attack on the Babylonians will come from the north; they and their animals will run, leaving the land empty.

Never again will people live in your land— only desert animals, jackals, and unclean birds.

Listen to my plans for you, people of Babylonia. Your children will be dragged off, and your country destroyed.

You destroyed the nations and seem strong as a mountain, but I am your enemy. I might even grab you and roll you off a cliff. When I have finished, you'll only be a pile of scorched bricks.

The earth twists and turns in torment, because I have decided to make Babylonia a desert where no one can live, and I won't change my mind.

Babylon will be a pile of rubble where only jackals live. People will laugh, but they will be afraid to walk among the ruins.

Horrible destruction will strike the nearby towns. The land will become a barren desert, where no one can live or even travel.
