And who did God say would never enter his place of rest? Weren't they the ones that disobeyed him?

They had refused to trust him, and they had doubted his saving power.

The LORD said to Moses, “I have done great things for these people, and they still reject me by refusing to believe in my power.

will enter the land that I solemnly promised to give you as your own—only Caleb and Joshua will go in.

So he sent a deadly disease that killed those men,

But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you refused to believe in my power, these people did not respect me. And so, you will not be the ones to lead them into the land I have promised.”

Everyone who has faith in the Son has eternal life. But no one who rejects him will ever share in that life, and God will be angry with them for ever.

At one time you Gentiles rejected God. But now Israel has rejected God, and you have been shown mercy.

Then at Kadesh-Barnea the LORD said, “I am giving you the land, so go ahead and take it!” But since you didn't trust the LORD, you rebelled and disobeyed his command.

God became angry and told the people, ‘You will never enter my place of rest!’ ”

We should do our best to enter that place of rest, so that none of us will disobey and miss going there, as they did.

We have heard the message, just as they did. But they failed to believe what they heard, and the message did not do them any good.

This means that the promise to enter is still good, because those who first heard about it disobeyed and did not enter.
